Leading Chinese Physicians Share Insights From COVID-19 Response in Wuhan and Shanghai.

A Second Opinion is committed to providing you with the most up to date, real-time coverage on the 2019 novel coronavirus.  On Friday, March 13th, we had the unique opportunity to hear directly from the leading physicians on the ground in China, spearheading the response to COVID-19:

  • Zhiyong Peng, the director of the ICU at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, which has one of the lowest death rates in ICU cases within Wuhan.
  • Bin Cao, the Vice President of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, who is currently in charge of the antiviral clinical trials in China.
  • Wenhong Zhang, the Head of Infectious Diseases at Huashan Hospital of Fudan University. He is considered the “gatekeeper of Shanghai” for his heavy involvement in creating the public health policies that kept the city safe.

This virtual meeting of 200+ physicians and public health leaders was designed to provide the latest information to hospitals and clinicians in the U.S. preparing for the virus. It was organized by Senator Frist’s good friend Li Lu, the founder and Chairman of Himalaya Capital Management, whose foundation has been actively assisting in getting needed medical supplies into Wuhan’s hospitals.
