Dr. Patty Gabow on More Women Leaders in Healthcare

Dr. Patty Gabow is a nationally known leader in delivery system innovation who served for 20 years as CEO of Denver Health and Hospital Authority, an integrated safety net health care system.  Dr. Gabow has a background as a physician-scientist specializing in nephrology, focusing on polycystic kidney disease.  She served as a founding member of the federal Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission.

She’s also the author of more than 130 articles, 37 books and book chapters, and a recent book, TIME’S NOW for Women Healthcare Leaders: A Guide to the Journey.  In today’s discussion, we do a deep dive on her learnings in researching and writing “Time’s Now.”  Women make up 75 to 80 percent of the healthcare workforce but less than 15 percent of the top leadership positions.  We explore why, and what we need to do to change that.
